Should we be taking bets on how many of those Republicans that said they will vote to release the files actually do so when the vote comes up? A harbinger for the “vote” for ACA is extension included in the CR deal from the Senate.

There are 44.1M registered Democrats and 37.4M registered Republicans. Perhaps Democratic politicians should spend more time trying to figure out how to turn out their vote instead of compromising their party’s principles to chase after people in the opposing party.

How insulting from a moron who was privileged to be born into money. Plenty of smart people in the world even in the poorest countries and plenty of idiots in the most advanced nations.
November 11, 2025 at 12:34 AM
Why do we have parties if all the politicians are just free agents? I thought the Senate was supposed to be the old veteran deliberative part of the government not a bunch free agents running around on their own.

For the most part, the successful doctors in the US are good business people , not necessarily the best medical practitioners. They can be both but someone good at handling patients may not be the best at dealing with bureaucracies and chasing down money.

Actually a bit surprised to see Trump go outside when it is rainy. Wouldn’t do it for the WWI vets in France

What happens in January? They hold out for 50 days before they say the Republicans won’t make a deal and acquiesce? Not to mention that there is a ton more leverage at this time of year than there will be after the start of the year. Do you think it is by accident they waited until after elections?

Vegas gets a lot of domestic tourism from immigrants who aren’t historically used to celebrating Thanksgiving and Xmas. Unreliable air travel would have had them going to local casinos instead of splurging on a trip to Vegas

Well, he’s disincentivized blue voters because the CR passed and he will get hammered by a Republican opponent for voting against it. Is he going to say “I would have voted yes but I knew there were enough Democratic votes to make sure it would pass”?
November 10, 2025 at 7:57 PM
And restoring SNAP benefits is illegal and could be restored by the courts quicker than getting the CR through Congress.
November 10, 2025 at 7:38 PM
They are all jokes who just outflanked your party’s Senators.
November 10, 2025 at 7:36 PM
And what’s to say that Trump won’t fully fund SNAP even if the CR is passed? It’s not like he is following the law now. And meanwhile the Democrats are looking like putzes for folding and making Trump and MAGA look and feel like they won.
November 10, 2025 at 7:01 PM
Understood. But withholding SNAP benefits is being proven illegal in the courts and it is quite likely that will be settled in the courts to restore the benefits before Congress is able to pass the CR. It’s more about optics and Democrats not being able to message that Trump is breaking laws.

And Durbin is the minority whip, Schumer’s 1st lieutenant and he voted yes.
November 10, 2025 at 9:42 AM
And giving a bully any kind of a win emboldens them further. If they think that Trump wasn’t willing to negotiate this time, why would he in January? Schumer didn’t learn his lesson from last March.

Vegas Casinos. Cutting airplane flights cuts trips to Vegas just before Thanksgiving and Xmas. Both NV senators voted yes.
November 10, 2025 at 9:32 AM
There is no way Schumer was a true no vote if his whip voted yes.
November 10, 2025 at 9:30 AM
Don’t forget the casinos - they are bleeding now and would be in even worse shape if people can’t (or won’t) fly there over Thanksgiving and Xmas. No surprise both NV senators voted for cloture
November 10, 2025 at 8:55 AM
Except that Nancy always delivered or there was no vote.
November 10, 2025 at 8:49 AM
Does Sheehan mean the 9 months before the shutdown when the Republicans were so willing to reach across the aisle? Or maybe the four years of Trump’s 1st term?
November 10, 2025 at 8:35 AM
Wake up? After today’s vote, what are the Democratic Senators going to do? They signed a bill that Thune put in front of them last week.
November 10, 2025 at 8:32 AM
Do you feel better that the Democrat leadership is passively trying to get their people to starve to death? Because giving up this fight without getting any concession is about as passive aggressive as you can get.
November 10, 2025 at 8:30 AM
Schumer is the leader of the caucus. Durbin is his lieutenant and whip. If he didn’t have his whip out there holding the party line Schumer is either ineffective or part of the whole scam. Pelosi would never have let this happen and she had to deal with a larger and more vulnerable caucus.

Who is the real devil - the one who reveals himself or the one that claims to want to help you while secretly siding with the other side?
November 10, 2025 at 8:25 AM
The Democrats have you figured out. Ossoff was spared having to vote Yes because 8 other Democrats (in secure seats or retiring) took the sword so that Ossoff could hide behind their cover. He was in the negotiations, if he really disagreed, he should have pulled his colleagues out as well.
