the book was "Against Technoableism" by Ashley Shew btw! really great read, I highly recommend and im definitely incorporating some ideas from it into my next ttrpg's vision of the future...

Second, I really adore the Aspect system - I think having access to a wide variety of abilities from your ancestry, background, and class and being able to choose from any of them is genius. I played a Tzelicrae Spit-Born Tempest, and even within that combo, there are so so many different builds

First, its crazy I had never heard of it, its literally so similar to my game Windrunners in some ways

this is all to say, maybe I'll get started on writing my own Space Western ttrpg...

but I do really like Orbital Blues' Troubles and Gambits, I think a classless system was a very smart move for the genre

because in Cowboy Bebop and Guardians of the Galaxy (which Orbital Blues lists as influences), the heroes rarely ever purely win or lose - there are so many coincidences, fumbles, tragic successes, and such that I feel like they need to be hard-coded into the system

The aesthetics of this book are incredible, but I'm not sure how I land on the mechanics - I think this game would really benefit from a "mixed success" roll condition, or something like Star Wars RPG's advantage/threat system

I went to Powell's Books (a giant multi-level bookstore) and they had a really big ttrpg section! Picked up Orbital Blues, I've been thinking a lot about Cowboy Bebop...

I was stressing over prep for my first @paraloguepod.com episode - y'know its a podcast for an audience, I want to make sure it's polished - but then I just sat down and played with my friends and it was so easy! I forgot how fun playing the damn game is

I've played ttrpgs twice since I last posted, I'm really glad I've made keeping up with these friends and playing make-believe a priority in my life! it genuinely adds so much happiness

everyone should play games :)
