I have roughly 20ish weeks until I get to see Steven Wilson perform live again, so I’m spending that time doing a retrospective listen, one album a week. I should probably toss some Blackfield in there as well, but I’m excited for another Porcupine Tree summer. 🖤

Started reading Naomi Klein’s Doppelgänger last night. This quote from the introduction stood out to me.

There’s a decent handful of conservatives crowing about TFG’s approval ratings & something about liberal tears. 🙄 But I was curious as to where that survey originated. I found the survey data – it’s in coordination between CBS/YouGov which means that…

I am having a day.

That is all.

Doing the easiest thing I can do for self-care today: I am stripping the bed linens to wash & air the mattress out, if only because it will ensure that I can’t crawl back in. Opened the windows too, even though it’s only like 45F outside.

Do what you need to reset. The exhaustion is the point.

If you are curious about what your congresspeople are doing, this is a good place to start. It was not good for my brain space and emotional well-being, no. But there’s some genuinely nefarious stuff in here.

Breakfast before work.

And btw Jam According to Daniel is my favorite jam maker. Local to Charlottesville, VA. I like my jam tart, and they absolutely deliver on that.

I had a planned CEU webinar with the CDC next week. It just got canceled.

Really, really hard to not read into this right now.

Bishop Mariann Budde is demonstrating what a good Christian should be: kindness, tolerance, and mercy. I don’t follow that faith any longer primarily because of how evangelicals have fouled it in the name of power and greed, but there’s good bits in there about how you’re supposed to treat others.

In the last Trump administration, I said at the end that his presence, his actions, his words - all of it was planting the seeds of poisonous roots, that like a noxious weed would poison generations.

Lazily posting this ‘round the socials.
I'm not sure which of these I'll be using most frequently, because all of this is... a lot of ways to divide my attention, and I'm not super inclined to contribute to all of them at once, if I'm being honest. (Comments for link list)

It’s pretty hard to accept that I have a couple of photographs with a famous serial sex offender. That we exchanged a few emails after the fact. That his words are permanently inked on my skin, as is a design based on some art his ex-wife did. It makes me feel sick. All of it.

Is this my life?

All I can think of is Neil’s own words:

“Writers are liars, my dear, surely you know that by now?”

And he was the biggest liar of all.

To say that I’m pained and hurt by this is an understatement of the most epic proportions.

Also: hello new followers! There’s suddenly a lot of y’all. I suspect I got put in one of those “add these people” starter packs, which is fine. Still migrating over here from Threads, albeit slowly.

9 years since the morning I woke up in mourning. You were the glue holding the fabric of this universe together. We knew you as Ziggy Stardust, Thin White Duke, Halloween Jack, Aladdin Sane, Goblin King, the Blind Prophet, the Man Who Fell to Earth and the Man Who Sold the World.

It's been nine long years since you've left Earth, Starman. We miss the hell out of you, but we're also relieved you aren't here to witness the shitshow.

All hail David Bowie.
