Hmmm... I just saw this picture in a Craigslist ad for an IBM XT and an HP LaserJet... the original. For some reason, it never occurred to me that the line started before the HP LaserJet Series II. I've never seen an original before. #vintagecomputing #retrocomputing

This is my Total Microcomputer Model 4000 computer. Technically the last of a rare Motorola 6800 based home computer that was a pioneer in an "all-in-one" computer. Six days left on @bzotto.bsky.social Kickstarter for his book detailing Sphere Corporation here: www.kickstarter.com/projects/bzo...

This is my Total Microcomputer Model 4000 computer. Technically the last of a rare Motorola 6800 based home computer that was a pioneer in an "all-in-one" computer. Six days left on @bzotto.bsky.social Kickstarter for his book detailing Sphere Corporation here: www.kickstarter.com/projects/bzo...
Here's a picture of the internals. I have more pictures at vintagecomputer.ca/interact-mod... The earliest version of the Interact Model One has a chicklet keyboard. This later one, thankfully, has a normal full travel keyboard and is closer to a standard one (minus the layout).

I also don't have the original joysticks so I had to make a makeshift Atari joystick to Interact Model One joystick adapter. As a side note, I do love crimping my own pins. Brings me back to the ole days. The Maze game was a good test for this. #vintagecomputer #retrocomputer

After replacing an obscene amount of parts including the memory, two shorted capacitors, the LM1889 for video output and more, my Interact Model One finally works. I still get static for sound but I can live with turning the volume down for now. #vintagecomputer #retrocomputer

Got my Tecmar Mac Drive working after recapping and repairing the power supply and replacing a shorted cap on the main PCB board. Very cool serial based drive that was available BEFORE Apple's HD20 hard drive solution. #Macintosh #vintagecomputer #retrocomputing

Playing the "Trivia Talker II" game by #Votrax on the #Commodore 64 with the "Votalker C-64" cartridge installed. I love the classic sound of the speech synthesis from the SC-01 chip within. #vintagecomputer #retrocomputer

Working on a Tandon computer with an MFM hard drive. I didn't realize you could terminate the drive chain by plugging in a resistor pack terminator this way. I've never seen this before. Very cool. #vintagecomputer #retrocomputer

Found a Memotech keyboard for the ZX81 that doesn't appear to be used. I'm not usually a "box" person but this is a nice one. Will have to try it out the next time Sinclair is in the "review and see if everything still works" rotation. #vintagecomputer #retrcomputer

Happy 50th anniversary to the MOS 6502! Could Microchess for the KIM-1 be the first commercially available game for the 6502? The yellow booklet of the left is version 1.0. You typed it in yourself but there was an optional cassette. Let me know your thoughts. #vintagecomputer #retrocomputer

Here are the voltages. I only saw a flash in the CRT neck when turning on. No glow while it operated. I did start with nothing on screen until I adjusted the brightness but still no glow. I have to fix a cold solder joint while I'm at it :) Good luck!

That sucks. Sorry, I was out. You have bigger issues to deal with at the moment but just for you to confirm later on, here is my EPROM placement.

I'd have to go with this Apple Lisa 1 battery damage. Parts were literally falling off when touched. It's very common if the batteries were not removed. I had to find an alternate I/O board but it could have been an ugly repair.

Decapped a Microsystems International Limited (MIL) MF7115 RAM chip from 1972. This was part of the chipset of the MF7114 CPU that started out as the #Intel 4005 (4004 follow up). After Intel abandoned it, MIL continued the design work. It and this RAM vanished into obscurity after 8008 came out.

Putting together some PiSCSI units. I ordered the parts and boards and when they arrived, I quickly understood what "0402" meant in terms of surface mount components. R3 and R4 are two of them. Good Lord those are small! I lost six of them just taking the plastic off the stripe.

Excited to see this beauty arrive. I am not particularly a "boxed vintage computer" collector but it will be interesting to explore what came with the #IBM EduQuest. I've never seen one in a box before. Unboxing will have to wait for other projects first, though. #vintagecomputer #retrocomputer

After many weeks of experimentation and hacking, I've finally managed to get my Ontario educational Unisys Icon computer workstation to think it's a Lexicon server and boot up it's native QNX operating system from hard drive. Now I am in dire need any software that might be out in the wild. Help!

One thing I love about #vintagecomputer collecting is reuniting obscure parts to make a more complete unit. Two items arrived today. First is the interface card for a Cyborg ISAAC for the #AppleII. Second is an #IBM Midi breakout box for the IBM PC Music Feature sound card. More to explore soon.

Microsoft ScanDisk, my old friend... Going through some old MFM hard drives and low level formatting/formatting them and ScanDisk makes a tool to exercise drives now. It used to be a great tool back in the day along with Norton Utilities and PCTools. Remember those early versions?

Never thought I’d ever have to bust out this relic from the past. I didn’t keep the BNC crimper or I would have used the crimp BNC connectors like back in the day. Need cables for a little ArcNet experiment soon. #vintagecomputer #retrocomputer
