Last text convo w/my sister: “Them: I know you won’t vote for Trump, but pls don’t vote for an abortionist. Me: I know you wont vote for Harris, but pls don’t vote for a rapist felon.” Not a word since. W/my folks gone, my two siblings are it. Spending day w/ friends. Have one for me just because

I can’t read it. Every day I encounter the poor and discarded in rehab and longterm care facilities. Disabled & elderly alike. They live in near squalor. Warehoused. Forgotten. Only the wealthy or those w/ familial safety nets can escape this fate. I am faced w/knowing it could be me someday.

In my early Christian days, when anxiety & fear stalked me, these were verses of shame and reinforced by those around me. Nineties evangelicalism was not always kind…or wise.

I have work to do in reconciling my faith and call with this new administration, and the friends & family who helped ushered it in. Chalk art littered the hospital garage during the first wave. Hope is louder! #palliativecare #faith

What a beautiful boy! I love the bday hat. Vinny will be three December 1. Where does the time go? We’re getting a brother or sister in May. We need a spicy pup. The two of us have become like an old married couple.
