I still reel from the pandemic. I believe the virus was an evil force, a separate entity—stealing breath, isolating, stoking fear, dividing communities, mowing down the most disenfranchised. I’m forever haunted & inspired by those I cared for. And now this…a new beast coming to the U.S. in Jan.

It would be his last birthday at nearly a century old. My patient was surrounded by family & friends, but he preferred to feed his good friend doggy ice cream. He delighted in Vinny in his last months of life. #cavakierkingcharles #therapydog #hospice #blueskydogs

Here’s the first time I laid eyes on baby Vinny, in my breeder’s truck—it was love at first sight. My breeder has bred cavies for 30 years, initially for show, now for the health & legacy of the breed. She picked him out specifically for therapy work. But any dog that loves people can do this work.♥️

Chilly, cloudy Cincinnati fall day. Evening w/ friends: Sweet potato, lentil curry, homemade bread & a viewing of the new doc on Martha Stewart. Kept Vinny on the leash in case the resident cats made an appearance. (They did not.)
