This is a slightly adapted version of a sermon I preached back in 2018. I hate that it still needs to be said today, and I feel some kind of way about the fact that things going on right now are pushing me back toward preaching on the regular again.

For some reason, this scene is in my head today.

Pretty sure there's a Shakespeare quote for all occasions, but this one seems particularly apt today.

The lesson here is, imho, not:

"Don't bother being in solidarity with ppl who have less power than you, bc nobody will trust you,"

but rather, "actions speak louder than words, & we cannot know more than we know abt people."

Do what's in your power. Talk less. Do more. Don't claim credit. +
in my experience the genuine male feminists are just like, nice to women and treat them normally and don’t start podcasts or seek awards for it. performative behavior should always be a red flag.
Neil Gaiman, Justin Baldoni, and the End of the Male Feminist
This ignominious crew of famous men seemed to align with women against sexist oppression in public as they mistreated women in private.

Really disappointed in @insidehighered.com today with the subject line on your Daily News Update.

The incoming administration is all about hurting people who are already systemically underrepresented, and I don't think we need to be giving any sort of validation to that.
