I'm a big fan of deep focus photography and the Chevrons f32 aperture gives me more than enough focal depth especially when paired with such a fast film.

My four faves.

Unlike other companies that were cloning German designs, Kodaks designs were rooted in American design trends. Also unlike their contemporaries, the engineer wasn't also the designer, they paired designers with their lead engineer.

The Medalist, Chevron, Signet 40 and Signet 80.

The Arthur Crapsey desiged camera came with three lenses a 50mm, a 35mm, and a 90mm. The 50 and the 90 are both 4-element triplet designs and the 35mm is a six element heliar design, only the 50m is branded as an Ektanar.

The 50mm and the 35mm are radioactive lenses due to thorium oxide.

There isn't too much online about the 1958 Kodak Signet 80 and that's a shame.

It would have been about $1400 adjusting for inflation and was a decidedly prosumer release... it was also a flop. Read on for more about this gem and some more pictures. 🧵
