I'm a zoomer (just an old one) and like 90% of my peers unironically believe a middle class income used to be 2 cars, 5 kids, 1 father employed, international vacation every year. They get super mad when I point out that most people wouldn't even fly domestically back in the 1950s.

The thing about Trump saying it’s fine for Mamdani to call him a fascist is that he genuinely thinks all of this is kayfabe, just as he could insult Rubio or Cruz but still work with them. It’s not possible for him to imagine other people being sincere about anything.

In the grand scheme of things, this meeting was Tremendous Content, and like most Tremendous Content, it's Coke Zero politics. Mamdani comes out way ahead, Trump made a fool of his viziers and his strongest soldiers, and none of this will matter next week.

I think it's possible for us to have a world where we all live in harmony, where everybody prospers, and where we work together.
But, frankly, if that were impossible, and the only way to fix the world would be to destroy the lives of everybody I love?
