Funny how this, or even the possibility of this was not taken seriously during the 2024 Presidential Campaign.
“…a program for regime change in Europe, aimed at turning it into an illiberal polity. Accomplishing this transformation would involve undermining existing liberal governments in cahoots with Europe’s own far right, and turning Eastern Europe into an ideological wedge against its Western neighbors.”

Maybe, just maybe this is the kind of policy change that should be subject to serious public debate, and perhaps part of a presidential election platform rather than drafted by a bunch of people who think Curtis Yarvin new monarchism reflects deep thought.
"This is, quite straightforwardly, a program for regime change in Europe, aimed at turning it into an illiberal polity.... undermining existing liberal governments in cahoots with Europe’s own far right, and turning Eastern Europe into an ideological wedge against its Western neighbors."

My employer, Dartmouth College, today boasts it's 1st Ivy "to launch AI at an institutional scale." It is doing this by partnering--"more than a collaboration"--with Anthropic, a company that stole the books of many faculty, me included, which many of us are suing.

Well this should be fun. The Roberts Court could have saved the Texas GOP from itself by letting the lower court ruling stand. Now there are more than 5 districts with smaller GOP majorities that may not withstand a Blue Wave election while California has a green light for its gerrymander.

Democratic politicians need to stop accepting Trump’s white nationalist premise that immigration is bad and proudly and loudly make a positive case for why America’s identity and history as a nation of immigrants is so important.

Whatever comes out of them, today's talks in Moscow are a diplomatic all-time low for the US. Incompetent, mercurial envoys trying to reset relations w one of the worst regimes in the world at the expense of the victim of unprovoked aggression and the security of America's best allies in Europe.

Imagine knowing about Paul Manafort’s, shall we say, somewhat tense relationship with Oleg Deripaska and thinking, “Sure, sounds cool. Russian financing can’t possibly obligate me to things that make me unqualified to represent US national interests.

BTW Curtis Yarvin, I know you aren’t following the likes of me, but this post is for you.

After your beloved monarchs sell out Ukraine, but then need drones to challenge China? Ya think Ukrainians will rub their hands at the chance to sell their drone tech to the US?

“Witkoff encouraged Ukrainian officials to try another tack: What good was a handful of missiles going to accomplish? Instead, he encouraged Ukraine to ask Trump for a 10-year tariff exemption. It would supercharge their economy, he said.”

For decades a significant number of Americans have enabled this kind of cruelty in the sincere belief that the problem is Americans are too generous. Has it made them happier? No they just get angrier and even meaner. Standing up to this nastiness is a great way to start feeling better.
Trump: “I will permanently pause migration from all Third World Countries … denaturalize migrants who undermine domestic tranquility, and deport any Foreign National who is a public charge, security risk, or non-compatible with Western Civilization.“

Great article. Regarding the 600,000 armed forces limit, I believe Mark Galeotti cited an unnamed British source that Ukraine can’t afford that large an army in peacetime.
Really informative BBC story showing the complexity of the supposed peace plan as told through Ukrainian soldiers reacting to it

Because using people with no experience or knowledge of the issues as high level contacts with Russia has been working so well for Team Trump ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

More evidence the Dmitriev plan isn’t happening, which means Team Trump is going to look like the amateurs they are. I can only guess that the reason Witkoff is still tolerated as lead negotiator is because Rubio and State see his amateurism as a circuit breaker.
If the US is seriously considering enforcing the 28 - point plan, it would place itself in violation of:

• 13 binding treaties and international instruments
• 23 political commitments, declarations, and authoritative resolutions
• 35 explicit articles, clauses, and legal principles

So the full court press is on. Putin clearly seeing his window for using Trump to strong arm Ukraine is closing. Can Europe finally do what is needed to be done?
In a letter sent to European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, Hungarian PM Viktor Orbán says he will block "any further [EU] financial assistance to Ukraine in any form" and calls on Europeans to back Trump's 28-point plan "immediately and unconditionally." www.politico.eu/wp-content/u...
