Visual Tutorial on how to achieve a Frutiger Aero Y2K waterdrop button effect for graphics. 1: Base Art - Keep art simple and rounded for best effect. 2: Inset Gradient from Dark to Light - Keep lightsource direction in mind. 3: Highlights - Bright highlights over the darkest area of the button + interior soft highlight opposite to it for max contrast. 4: Bounce Light/Reflections. 5: Dimension - Add dropshadows, outlines, and subtle gradients to add depth and imply the bevel of whatever surface the button is set into.

Struggle with knowing where to start when drawing metal? 🔪✨

Here's a way you can incorporate metallic rendering into your art! There's more than one way to draw metal, so be sure to use ref and try different techniques!

Goals: Establishing Basic Shape, Lighting, and Material 1. Draw a base shape in midtone (50%) gray - This makes it easier to build form with black/white. 2. With a soft round brush, use black or dark gray to block out the shadows of your shape. 3. With the same brush, use white to create highlights and bounce lights on your object. Focus on good contrast and a variety of values (light and dark). High contrast + sharp edges between shades = more metallic look. 4. On a new layer, make some reflected lights. This isn’t necessary, but this helps to make the metal feel more shiny/realistic and adds interest. 5. Apply a Gradient Map to the shape, making sure to clip it to your object. Focus on good contrast and a variety of values (light and dark). Use references for a more realistic color palette. 6. Use colors from the background to make a more realistic look that better incorporates the metal into its environment. Use references for better effect. Note: Programs that allow Gradient Maps will typically have a large library of pre-made Gradient Maps for you to choose from. You can also save custom gradients.

A massive spiral galaxy fills the image, with its bright yellow core seen near the upper left. Spiral arms whirl outward, laced through with dark brown dust and bright blue patches of star formation. Angled from the upper left corner to the lower right corner is a cone-shaped orange-red cloud known as Herbig-Haro 49/50. This feature takes up about three-fourths of the length of this angle. The upper left end of this feature has a translucent, rounded end. The conical feature widens slightly from the rounded end at the upper right down to the lower right. Along the cone there are additional rounded edges, like edges of a wave, and intricate foamy-like details, as well as a clearer view of the black background of space. In the upper left, overlapping with the rounded end of Herbig-Haro 49/50, is a background spiral galaxy with a concentrated blue center that fades outward to blend with red spiral arms. The background of space is speckled with some white stars and smaller, more numerous, fainter white galaxies throughout. A densely packed cluster of yellow stars shines at the center of the image, with more stars scattered throughout. Clouds of glowing indigo gas and dust dominate the lower half of the view, and a red star with diffraction spikes shines at upper right. A nebula made up of cloudy gas and dust in the form of soft and wispy clouds and, in the center, thin and highly detailed layers pressed close together. Large, bright stars surrounded by six long points of light are dotted over the image, as well as some small, point-like stars embedded in the clouds. The clouds are lit up in blue close to the stars; orange colors show clouds that glow in infrared light.
