I canned things for the first time!!
I got to hear the "ting, tang, bing, tink" of the seals when I took them outta the pot.
Still gotta remember to boil these before use in other food, because as I learned today thanks to my mama, Ang Allen, due to their low acid botulism can grow

So far this year, my hubby and my sister are winning Xmas gift giving this year.
And one thing y'all should know about me, is I DO sorta view gift giving as a competitive sport.

I've never cooked a ham like this.
It was a shelf stable ham that needed to be soaked before cooked.
I soaked it for 24 hrs in water.
And a bit over 24hrs in apple cider.

Well this happened today.
It was fine when I closed it and left the room
Came back and it was shattered.
My working theory is that the rolled up paper plate I put in to light the kindling concentrated the heat on that panel with the jetish way that the fire comes up and out through the middle
