Odd. But let me get this straight you suppose that the Salem witch trials of the late 1600’s were a ploy to free up space in medical fields: for an industry that wouldn’t really come into its own until the 1800s. and not puritan colonies persecuting people who didn’t fit into their communities?

The difference being King Charles desired powers the crown had at some point, and simply wanted to exercise them fully. Trump on the other hand is trying to abuse what few powers he has and fabricate new ones.

Well firstly: the are mandatory reporters of sexual abuse. It’s just the one instance they can’t divulge any information they receive is within the seal of confession. But I might ask, where does it end? In the future could it be that a priest has to report any crime?

Well the purpose for the sacrament is the absolution of sins. Anyone should be able to confess their sins without any reservation. That being said I don’t really expect you to understand the severity of any attempt to control or alter the sacraments of the church.
