I'm trying so hard to focus on being grateful for our short time, and knowing we never took a day for granted. He was ridiculously clever, incredibly sweet, loud and funny, and we're going to always miss him.

Sunny packed a lot of living and loving into three and a half years: he swam in Half Moon Bay, played in the Sierra snow, ran with the coyotes in cow country and explored the desert in Death Valley.
A brain tumor took him from us two days ago.

We adopted Sunny in Riverside, CA, on May Day 2022, the meekest and sweetest of a litter of Queensland heelers.
Sunny, a big red heeler lays flat on top of a dude on a couch. Sunny always dropped his ball in his water bowl before pushing it around to drink the water. Not sure if he loved the challenge, or wanted to wash his ball. Sunny as a two-month old puppy, one ear flopped to the side, chews on a blue plush toy on the kitchen floor. In Chicago, hazmat teams looking like spacemen were called in to analyze some green goo. It turned out to be guacamole.
