A blog post on my reflections:
- 127,414 claims
- 1/3 rejected
- 67% of most seriously harmed get much lower award than due
- 99.% of cases at appeal increased or maintained (only 55 / 11,035 reduced)

Thanks Charlie. More evidence for the Defence Committee's work on making the Armed Forces Covenant fit for purpose. @tandhesi.bsky.social

I've long argued the case that there are few means of verifying the delivery of services for the Armed Forces Community beyond private initiatives such as @veteranlawproject.bsky.social

If the Defence Committee are serious about reform of The Covenant there needs to be greater engagement.

We just received a lovely email:

“Thank you for the work that you do.” A pleasure!

“I am a UK veteran, due to start a GDL next year as part of plans to qualify as a barrister”. Great

“Are there any scholarships or patrons who can support a military veteran to assist with law degree costs?“ 🤷‍♂️

Was just thinking I should do a #FollowFriday for the great new criminal justice people I’ve added to this #StarterPack over the week… and then I realised it is Thursday

And that pretty much sums up how this week is going 🥴

Hope you’re all hanging in there!

One of those stories I was aware of but this programme really brought home the scale of the suffering and cover-up.
Just watched the Storyville programme "Britain's Nuclear Bomb Scandal"

What a heart-wrenching set of stories:
- of those witnessing the tests,
- their families and children
- and local residents on the islands and in Australia

And such MOD/government cover-up and denial 😞

#nuclearbombscandal #MOD
“The story of Britain’s postwar atomic weapons programme, its devastating legacy for the thousands of service personnel who took part and the impact on their families and indigenous communities.”

Available to watch online, or on BBC 2, 9pm Wed 20 November 2024

Thank you @gemabbott.bsky.social for adding our non-profit to your Third Sector/Charity Folk starter pack 👍
I can tell Bluesky has really taken off because my effort to create a #StarterPack for *everyone who works in and around UK charities* suddenly seems a bit ambitious 😆

Onwards! 💪

Lmk if you want to join!
