The fuck?
To the two well-respected local SF/F community leaders who each told a teenage child of a friend of mine, "I can't wait for you to turn 18, I'll be waiting for you," I know your names you fucking shitty-ass pedo bastards, and I *remember*.
I see the “technically it’s ephebophelia” crowd is out today, so just a reminder that A) this is NOT a case where technically correct is the best kind of correct and B) the minute you say this, the gods dump you in the “irredeemable creeper” basket and wash their hands thoroughly after touching you.

Good morning! Have you checked out the queer shenanigans of the #NeoG yet? Hyper-competent space opera for the 21st century. (aka this is not your father's military science fiction)

Space opera standalones for everybody! A little bit of hope, a little bit of sports, a whole lot of competence, and even more queer shenanigans.

They said write your own if you don't see yourself in what you read. So I did. Come join the #NeoG, hopeful spacepunk for difficult times.

I need Thomas Lennon to explain this story as he did with the SS Mont-Blanc and the Halifax Explosion
yes yes we all know about the Edmund Fitzgerald, rest her soul, but did you know about the ship laden with explosives that sank in the mouth of the Thames in 1944 and could explode at any minute and which attempts to disarm keep failing

October was a bit of a mixed bag reading wise. Some stuff knocked it out of the park, and another that did not even slightly land for me. Storygraph details in the images.

A reminder that this anti-trans panic is 100% bullshit and exactly none of our country’s problems are related to someone expressing their gender identity and everyone who isn’t a hate-filled weirdo knows it.

Friends in the UK, you need this book in your life! It’s so good, so weird, and so unsettling. I love it.

If you aren't sure who your representatives are, and you want to reach out to urge them to end Schumer's time as minority leader, you can find them at www.congress.gov/members/find...
Just plug in your address and you'll get your Senators and House Representative.

Anyone else have problems with SSMS 21.6.17 hanging when trying to use the database drop down? It happens to me frequently with on-prem #sqlserver and MIs.

I LEARNED THE ANSWER TO THIS

Chris's Steakhouse was a New Orleans landmark

Chris Matulich periodically got bored, sold it, waited for the new owner to fail, and bought it back cheap

The sale conditions: Can't move it, can't change the name

He did this six times

Then he sold it to Ruth Fertel
what did ruth mean when she said her steakhouse was "chris"

On this #N7 day, here's a short tale on how I entered the #MassEffect universe.

The year was 2013 and it was my first year volunteering at Emerald City Comicon. As a naive greenshirt, I was happy to do whatever was needed. In the morning meeting, they asked for some people to work the tower.

24 shots on goal. That's $120 to the local food bank. My employer matches charitable donations, bring the total to $240.

I will donate $5 to my local food bank for every @seattlekraken.com shot on goal against Chicago tonight.

Won't be much if they play like they did the other night against the Rangers

Both studios are in Everett, WA.

I would consider this a huge upset. Australia have been dominant (they haven't lost a World Cup 50 over game in 8 years). India barely scraped into the semis with a .500 record.

Apple stuck their thumb on the scale for Miami in MLS.

I wonder what their plan is to do the same for F1 and for what team.
