Just placing my jar of Chinese 5 Spice here for the historical record, as it were.
Alas the best-before date can no longer be read, but I bought it in Aberystwyth (which I left in Jan 2006) in either 2004 or '05, and almost immediately discovered I didn't like it because of the star anise.
