i was wondering if it was a regional thing or not and i think have my answer

a lot of times warranty costs will be covered by the manufacturer, done behind the scenes with the dealer, to keep costs down for the customer. i don't know the brand you're considering but that's one reason to go to a (shitty) dealer.

i really like the rebate program some cities have done and would love to see more of those.

i've been screaming for a proper second hand market for a long time now, some have tried but ultimately brands don't care because you can't have endless growth if you're assisting the resale market

funny i have a dealer in NEPA that is hell bent on aftermarket conversions, they swear by them. i guess there is but maybe i'm the wrong person to ask because i dislike the aesthetic (function over form amirite?)

should have continued reading this first but as far as 2. goes, most brands that sell through IBD require dealers to provide some service guarantee. this place sounds like it's a total bummer.

i'd always buy from a shop, after sales support is super crucial (especially if it's an e-bike) and while you may save by buying online you could spend the difference plus more on service and replacement parts.

is there a comparable bike at a different shop?

i think it's more of philosophical question as what you as a consumer, or we as consumers want.

while Rad can hit a price point, what happens to after sales support if they close? how much has the average buyer spent in after sales support compared to a slightly more expensive product?

that was me Sunday: stood and watched a CX race, ate like shit, and felt guilty so when i got home so i jumped on the trainer. average power was in threshold, average heart rate was just under endurance.

yesterday? every pedal stroke outside of endurance shot my heart rate into zone 4.

almost 27km at the finish, well above 25kph average. that's a fast fuckin race with plenty of tech
November 11, 2025 at 1:33 PM
call it evergreen or whatnot, i don't care. there are brands doing it right that have a 1/8th of the marketshare but offer dealers compelling margins, well equipped bikes, but they don't advertise on Joe Rogan Podcast or fill you IG feed with annoying, targeted ads
November 11, 2025 at 1:26 PM
more accessible bike brands? YES! 100% absolutely.

we need affordable bikes that are easy to work on with replaceable parts that are widely available.

we need companies operating in good faith of it's consumers, not marketing agencyes/tech bros looking for a quick return.
