I do Splatoon Blender as a hobby, and I have a Splatoon story ("Melissa's Story") that's been in writing for... 7 years and I still haven't finished the first chapter, hmm.

I just had a thought, and I know this seems silly obvious, but I swear I just had the idea now.

I think when I have the time, I can make a few short stories. Like really really short.
And I can make renders for those, too.

Just updating again, 'cause I haven't posted much.

I'm still alive! Been on a bunch of school stuff, and I'm still on this render.
It seems insane this single render has been taking a month, but it's a lot of experimenting and perfectionism.
It'll be worth it

Had quite sick day, and school is starting to beat me up
I'm still quite demotivated on Blender, but I hope I can get back during this weekend. I just need to settle with my school stuff first, then I can continue messing around

I may be going through swelled tonsils right now, but Blender 5.0 hella cool.

Too bad I'm still switching to CAST format soon, but the new FBX importer's pretty great. No more metallic madness.

Of course the solution was a misconception due to an earlier restriction. I didn't consider joining the models because I *WAS* on Random Walk, which hates geometry intersections, but Christensen-Burley lives for a single unified model, so I was supposed to—

I'm so locked out, I just cleaned up over 100GB of my storage space because in an attempt to play PvZ GOTY on my VM, it just bricked itself, so I'm reinstalling the whole thing

Yeah, so, the compositing solution definitely works
But it's super aggressive, so I lose some nice sss shadows
Cryptomatte's looking a bit rough, but that's another problem that can be solved, I'll get to that later

I have only two possible solutions left, both are the most likely to work, but are the largest amount of effort.

That means for the tutorial series, I absolutely cannot use Christensen-Burley. So, it'll be Random Walk, instead, and with a Rec.709 working space.

I guess I can still send some wips, as long as I get to complain about my current situation

Okay, 5.0's working space thing is a little finicky, and I think I might have to ignore it if it's causing way too much problems with my current setups.

Rec.709 -> Rec.2020 is not easy :P

I am obsessing over the tiny light differences, I wanna grab the image in my mind, but it's not easy

I wanted to try out a physical mindset with the lighting in this scene

But I'm sorry, if I gotta go beyond 5 f-stops for Exposure, then I don't believe it's valid for this type of render

Guess I'm going back to BS'ing light strength values

Also, this is -6.5 Exposure

[WIP] Alright, poses are about done
Got some tiny things to fix here and there, and then I'll get to lighting, and then spend maybe a few more hours, or a few more days, perfecting over every tiny detail because this is not where I want to leave it at.
