510 - 808 - 310 - 520. Writer and teacher of writing, theoretically in that order. Looking for a shady place to rest.
Kind of excited to hang out with this pulpy, sultry 70’s copy of Walt Whitman … it had better be gay as hell or else I’m out #sealeychallenge

#sealeychallenge day idunno - the last week has been bananas and I hardly had time to breathe let alone read - but my neighbor had more books for me! “You still read poems right? Here have these. Oh yeah and a puzzle book. A puzzle is kind of like a poem.”

#Sealeychallenge day 6 that turned into day 7 cuz some collections demand it - “Unaccompanied” by Javier Zamora

Picked this up at the library yesterday. Commands attention from jump, demands to be read like a novel. Each poem feels so full and big hearted. Just tearing me apart over here.

#sealeychallenge day 5 - Mary Oliver “New and Selected Poems”

Apropos of the poetry gods, my neighbor gave me this book this morning: “you like this kind of stuff, right?”

Been flipping through it in quiet moments through the day. It’s nice to carry a book of poetry around again.

#SealeyChallenge day 4 “A 10 peso burial for which truth I sign” by Gabriel Palacios

(Didn’t read anything yesterday because it was my kiddo’s birthday party, which was just frantic poetry in motion)

Nice to be rereading my friend’s collection, and finding new things to love about it.

#SealeyChallenge day 2 - 100 Classic Chinese Poems, translated by Qiu Xiaolong

Picked this up in a Shanghai bookstore a few years ago - all Tang Dynasty poets so the poems are lush, coy, romantic, witty - I read some to my 5 year old and she likes the pictures and tbh I do too

You’ve inherited a movie theatre, what’s your first double feature?

Master and Commander (2003) and Hunter Killer (2018)

Spring semester starts tomorrow so of course I stayed up late reading Vonnegut and will likely spend most of the morning thinking about fate and joining the birds instead of lesson planning

First movie I saw in the theatre: my parents took me and a bunch of 2nd graders to see it for my birthday - I only remember being very excited to see Madonna and my mom being fairly uncomfortable about it
