Today was my last class of a 36-year appointment as full-time instructor here at NSCAD. As I left my office this afternoon, I noticed that the screws affixing the name plate next to my door had recently been almost completely backed-out. 😅

This is the reference photo for "Osu Vestibule". I retained the simple object arrangement, but by comparing this with the painting, you can see that I changed the colour and quality of the light throughout. Reminds me of what Edward Hopper was trying to do near the end of his career.

It was so long ago, I have forgotten... but it got me wondering. When I was making the picture, I thought it was Guangzhou (old CDB) but it could also be the JingAn district of Shanghai. Which city had the aqua-coloured taxis? Here's a zoom image of one of the taxi plates--can you tell from that?
