I see this a lot, why we focus so much on visualization, but i think this sentence "Ultimately, contemporary AI is research misconduct" might have more impact as: "Uncritical deployment of AI can replicate the harms associated with questionable research practices"...just a suggestion.

viscerene, audene, etc. ;-) Seems simpler to stick with something like phantom (interoceptive) sensations, or perhaps coin a less modality specific term like "perceptene".

“We must picture hell as a state where everyone is perpetually concerned about his own dignity and advancement, where everyone has a grievance, and where everyone lives with the deadly serious passions of envy, self-importance, and resentment.”

It's unclear that it will be good, but in the end may not be that bad, though at the cost of disrupting the short term including peoples lives. This is a good summary (bsky.app/profile/jere...).

When I worked at a nonprofit we did not accept grants at less than the NIH F&A rate since we would need unrestricted funds to make up the gap/loss (it's not allowed to use NIH funds to make that up), and we did not have enough in unrestricted funding to do this. Indirects are covering real costs.

Do you really think it has been money making? At most places I've been the perspective is that research needs to be supplemented, and there are never enough funds to go around. This will dramatically increase the needed supplement.

nice work, should be published. This concept is not really new, we have been using simple correlation to check for duplicate subjects over 20 years. Works quite well for gray matter, resting networks, functional connectivity, FA, etc. It's also not specific to MRI, basically pattern analysis.
