Full cover, by the amazingly talented @tjtrewin.com who also does fantastic pixel art and fonts.

Thanks so much for organizing this, Inky. 💕

Current favorite is The Traitor and the Wretch. Some of my favorite interpersonal dynamics in here, and the difference in mentality between the cultist and his reluctant companion is a riot. It's a beautiful, well-written book and I adore it.

This cat.

This cat.

I am trying to work.
She is trying to nap on my chest.

I told her to move, so she did.

She walked to the bed remote, stepped on the vibrate button, and returned to my chest.

This cat is a menace.

(This is the best picture she'll let me take.)

I adore them, so much.

They're loving, and kind, and empathetic, and so very clever.

We did a political rally last month and they made their own signs. They picked what went on them, all I did was pay for supplier, and assist with spelling "Healthcare".

Peaches loves work from home days.

Not the work part. Just the me being home part.

Leaving the house to write today.

Look at that face. I can't say no to that face.

It's a snuggle trap.

Peaches is curled up beside the laptop, periodically slapping it with her tail.

"What does this thing have that I don't?"

But I snuggled her instead of writing yesterday, and I can't afford to fall into that (adorable, enjoyable, and soul-affirming) trap again.

Happy #Caturday

The queen demands her daily adoration.

Post you from a different era.

A bright moment in one of the darker points in my life. That wasn't the real me on the outside, my boyfriend at the time dictated everything about what he wanted me to look like and do and be, but it was the true me on the inside that won this award in spite of him.

Gave 6yo the choice to come with me when I voted, or stay with 8yo on the playground. After a long think, she chose voting.

"I'm better at coloring than you, Mommy. Just tell me what boxes you want."

So we filled it out together.

Local elections are important.

I believe Seekers in the Void, by Glynn Stewart, is the chonkiest for me.

(Well worth it, highly recommend, I hope there's a book 2 eventually).

It's never too late to follow your dreams!

Peaches, at the ripe old age of 15, has decided to become a successful mouser.

I was wondering what that commotion was this morning. She was so proud of herself.

Doing my part!

We finished our tour back in the main rotunda, where the kids launched into a game of hide and seek.

And thus ended today's visit to the Pennsylvania State Capitol, with lots of pictures and hopefully good memories for the kids.

Hoping tomorrow's event goes well, too.

8yo really liked the stairs.

Probably because she was not allowed to use them.

Look at the details in that railing.
October 26, 2025 at 1:19 AM
The viewing areas are on the third floor, for some context. The stairs were closed today, so we all had to take the elevators. Thank goodness.

The rotunda was too tall for chandeliers I guess, so enjoy these indoor lamp posts. This building is lit.

A random hanging light fixture in the hallway.

Also, you can see up my nose. The joys of a kids'-eye view.

6yo: I need to take a picture of the magic stairs. Look, Mommy! They light up ON THEIR OWN.

The ceiling above the visitor's seating was plain by comparison.

By COMPARISON.

6yo commandeered my phone, so have a really nice close up of the ceiling.

The Pennsylvania Senate, with different, still ginormous chandeliers.

The doors the Senators enter through are shorter than standard; tradition demands they bow to remember their duty to the people, not themselves.

Unrelated, Pennsylvania had corruption problems around the time of construction.

Back in the rotunda. 8yo snagged a closeup of the Spirit of Light artwork.

I will not tell you what she did to get it but I'm glad my phone survived the experience. (She fortunately knows better than to put herself in danger but we are still working on teaching respect for others' things.)
October 26, 2025 at 12:48 AM
I asked 6yo to take a picture of the mural above the door on the way out.
