Solitude builds an armoured fortress.
It carves spiralling columns and lays polished floors. It fills the room with haunting music. Maddening music. It plants sumac and ivy and devoures every inch of the empty, unused.
Finally, it protects nothing but itself.

There has always been a crack behind the corner of the house. The pavement is older than me. Everything is older than me. Mother says the crack must be filled because the house is sinking, but I don't want the crack to go. It has always been there.

Another Devil, but this one moves.
I love the Devil in Hungarian folklore - less a big evil, more a trixter/crossroads demon. Honestly, I always found the character more endearing than scary.

(Beeswax can be softened by the warmth of your hands, and it's super easy to apply textiles to it. It's one of my favourite techniques.)

For once I'm painting something not incredibly depressing
Well, I decided to use this canvas for something else. The original plan didn't quite go as I planned, and I have encountered a striking image in Vigo that I want to paint. But some of the textures stayed behind, I'll try to use a thinner layer of paint to hopefully preserve it.
