Friends and I started using it in our 30s and that was 20 years ago. It's a discourse marker and they're part of every language. The moral panic over this one is probably about 30 years old now. There's nothing wrong with it - it serves a purpose. #Linguistics

I swear there isn't a person under the age of 30 who can't get through a full sentence without using it at least once for no reason.
other than "yeah, no." what's an annoying thing people say?
