We (understandably) make fun of “the survivors *are* the walking dead!”, but I was just thinking that, like, for a lot of viewers, that really was one of their first experiences of the joys of figuring out an unspoken metaphor or underlying theme, you know? Like a Baby’s First Media Literacy kinda..

one of the good things that came out of anne rice attacking fans in 2000 was that it established fic as a counter culture. publishers will only take the most bland and acceptable parts of fic for exploitation, removing the radical corrective exploration inherent in any counter culture movement.
This is what the commodification of fandom looks like.
Traditional publishing is exploiting fandom and fans. Using them to promote and pay for the art they’ve already read for free. Setting fanfic writer up for possible lawsuits and forever binding them and their the work to a bigot. #Romancelandia

Hot take - forcing people to use childproof packaging is ableist. Example. I have a severe case of hEDS (hypermobile ehlers danlos syndrome), so my hands are extremely weak. I also wear hearing aids.

I agree with "be ungovernable" but I think it should be added "learn how to live outside the state," b/c that's what will save many people when the state withdraws support: networks, informal services & mutual aid. Incorporating these things into your life, esp. your Real Life is essential rn.
