The people that are screwing up the housing market are the same people that have been screwing up the housing market for generations, existing homeowners looking to enrich themselves by artificially limiting the supply of homes.

I will keep telling myself that bc it is a fact and I value objective reality.

Private equity owns fewer than 1% of the housing supply in the US. They are not moving prices in any significant way.

The firing bit would fall on mayors and/or city councils. But the collective bargaining issues with the police unions can happen at either the city or state level. There are both cities and states with statutes limiting collective bargaining for police unions. Ideally it'd be federal.

It's a cop problem. The solution is to bust the police union and start firing cops who don't do their jobs.

In fact, much of the SoCal coastal plain could see 2-4+ inches between Thu & Mon. That is pretty impressive for a Nov storm in this part of the state! In fact, at least localized flash flooding (esp. near recent wildfire zones & in other susceptible spots) is certainly possible.

The Fed increased interest rates bc inflation as measured by the Consumer Price Index was rising. Housing costs are a major part of the CPI and absolutely factored into the Fed's decision.

Over what period?

Why are you talking about mortgages as being the housing price indicator for the under 50k demo instead of rent since most of that demo rents.
November 13, 2025 at 5:18 AM
Can I see your source for that bc I just looked up some demographic numbers from 2020 and 2024 and it looks like $50-100k swung hardest for Trump.
