Only two reporters were in the courtroom every day of this trial, and @alleenbrown.bsky.social was one of them. The judge denied requests to stream, film, or record, so her notes and meticulous coverage are now an important part of the public record. 👇

Queer & trans organizers in Newark link environmental injustice, redlining, & the racism at the root of it, Lana Leonard reports. While locals could not stop a fourth fossil fuel power-plant facility constructed in the Ironbound neighborhood, their efforts illustrate the fight for a better world.

Sad to read this news. Dan almost represented me once during an intense time. I remember him as both kind and sharply inquisitive. I felt so powerful under his guidance. Rest in power.

This is a hard time to be a creature on earth. Rarely do I feel comfortable with self-promotion in the midst of so much violence and loss. But it feels important to share this:

I’m grateful to have two contributions in this path-breaking new book.

The debt, deportation, and death bill has passed. Congress further decimates care work to fund violence work.

Vital services eviscerated and ICE becomes the highest-funded federal law enforcement agency ever known. It hasn’t been sold this way, but it’s a massive public jobs program for fascists.

The fascist regime took down the Fifth National Climate Assessment, which happens to also be the first national assessment to acknowledge climate vulnerabilities to queer and trans communities. Luckily, it’s already backed up.

The law won't save us. Nearly all authoritarian regimes legitimize their actions within the law and make their acts legal.

More lawyers need to realize this.

The way to beat Trump's fake populism is with real economic populism:
- genuine solutions like rent control and free fast busses
- directing the deep well of public anger up at the oligarchs, not the vulnerable.

This is what Trump fears most - and it's why he never wanted to run against Bernie

So the people of Jacksonville did it themselves using flashlights and gels.

They opened the drawbridge to block them.

So they marched to a different bridge.
