Robinson’s thesis showed that active-duty military personnel at Joint Base Lewis-McChord had increased respiratory and behavioral health visits during days with substantial exposure to #wildfiresmoke. The study was recently published in the Journal of Occupational and Environmental Medicine.

It was “win-win” research for shellfish & crop farmers. Then the USDA canceled it.
DEOHS faculty Sarah Collier's project helped shellfish farmers find a market for seaweed that smothers their oyster & geoduck harvests by testing it as fertilizer. @uwnews.uw.edu

Microbiologist & clinical research asst prof Kelsey Jesser shared her research on intestinal pathogens today at our final #EnvironmentalHealth seminar of the quarter. Pathogens can cause diarrhea, the second leading cause of death among children worldwide and an urgent #publichealth concern.
