In specific and intentional ways my research is part of a larger story of reconciliation and reclamation to ḥahuułi in which the lands, waters, skies, and the natural/spiritual worlds are not a place and/or object of inquiry, they are non-human knowledge holders and teachers.

but very little about the Indigenous people of the region for whom the state is named. We learned about Salem’s prominent role in the trade between America and Asia, but barely a hint of its complicity in the trans-Atlantic trade of enslaved African peoples.

Greetings and a belated happy Halloween from Salem, Massachusetts!

A popular tourist destination, Salem is known as "The Witch City," and it also happens to be my hometown, where my parents and I found a welcoming home as immigrants over a half century ago.

In addition to their teaching, archaeological, and community work, Erin also holds a 4th degree black belt in traditional Shorin Ryu karate.
November 3, 2025 at 5:11 PM
Erin brings re-enactors and community experts to the classroom and shares their academic research with re-enactment groups across the province.
November 3, 2025 at 5:11 PM
These strategies foster deeper learning, hands-on engagement, and community-building. Erin first came to archaeology through medieval re-enactment circles and continues to engage with them when time permits, as the mix of play and research creates an inspiring environment for life-long learning.
