There is massive variation in the use of telehealth in states where abortion remains legally protected. In states where in-person care is easily available, telehealth is less common.

But telehealth abortions are also on the rise in states where abortion is legally protected.

Shield laws have facilitated the increases.

Telehealth abortions continue to be on the rise. By the end of 2024, 1 in 4 abortions were provided via telehealth.

The monthly average number of abortions climbed from around 80,000 in 2022, to 88,000 in 2023, to 95,000 in 2024.

Abortions have remained slightly HIGHER than before Dobbs.

It's the 3rd anniversary of the U.S. Supreme Court's Dobbs decision.

The U.S. saw just over 1 million abortions in 2024.

In this study, published in Nature Medicine, among over 6,000 patients who had a telehealth abortion. We found that telehealth abortion was just as safe and effective as published estimates of in-person care. Serious adverse events were 0.25%.

In this study, we followed people looking at all healthcare up to 6 weeks after their abortion.

Among 11,000 medication abortions, less than a third of one percent (0.3%) had a serious adverse event.
