Former U.S. History Teacher turned Screenwriter. My stories tend to focus on broken POC characters navigating an absurdist world. Let’s connect!
"I can see people arguing that Moses had the faith and Aaron did the good works, but that faith trumps good works. I would argue that we remember Moses over Aaron because we uphold leaders more than we uphold the boots on the ground doing the good work."

Again, if this were a story of God from his POV, perhaps the inconsistency is intentional. God doesn’t know yet when to intervene and when not to. Nor does he know the manner of his intervention. Should he smite or should guide?

We might have to start calling God an "inconsistent character".

"Chosen Ones are a dime a dozen in Hollywood. Look at Star Wars. But there’s usually a scene that gets us to empathize and love these chosen ones. They are special, they are chosen, but we understand why.

The Chosen Men of the Bible are a mixed bag."

Since April, I decided to read the Bible to understand better the Christian Right, our country, myself. I didn’t know what I was going to get out of here, but here is where you can read about it: urielramos.substack.com/p/reading-th...

Trump and his supporters want the United States to be a Christian nation. What exactly does that mean?

Many working class voters chose Trump to fix the economy, not fully comprehend just how much his tariff and tax policies will harm them in the long run.

Why do we tend to give rich people the benefit of the doubt?

One of the most influential texts I have read was the New Yorker interview with Celine Sciamma, calling for new cinematic feminist grammar. In a time when scripts need to be filled with conflict, artists like Celine (and I'd argue Miyazaki) chart a new path.

After the election, I just had to wrap my head around what happened. As a former U.S. History teacher, I turned to history for advice from figures who faced dark times yet still found the light.

Here are the Confessions of an Angry Millennial.
