These are some of the greyhounds that I’ve had the privilege of looking after. Two of them belong to me, and others are related to Diego and come to stay a few days with us. Life is good when there’s a greyhound or two around.
When the chair covers come out of the wash but they don’t smell like you anymore. Confused? They are.

Belmont La Bellissima, pondering how much longer Her Majesty has to wait for dinner to be served. “Really! Quite impossible to get reliable servants nowadays.”

Following up on an issue on another thread, how do greyhound owners/managers feel about crating their dogs when they have to be away from home?

Breeders train them from puppyhood, and stress the value of maintaining the training, but I have reasons to do it differently in my own home.

And now, for some peaceful vibes from the zen of my backyard, taken summer of ‘24. Carmen in pink muzzle, eventually nudged out by Diego in black, supervised by the intrigued Belmont in red.

“Portland has reclaimed the frog as a symbol of its resistance to Trump’s efforts to militarize the city,” former US attorney and commentator Joyce Alene wrote on X. “Perhaps women should claim the glamorous, sassy Muppet Miss Piggy, a known diva with a fierce karate chop, as their own symbol.”

Here’s a video of Thomas running with Diego’s uncle, Fawkes. This was taken almost 9 years ago, when Thomas still had the juice. It was a balmy spring morning, and we had the park all to ourselves. You can see Thomas’ joy in his running. The fawn that comes up near the end of the video is Fawkes.

If you don’t know this story, you will after you read this. Keep tissues handy because you will laugh until tears run down your face. This story took place in 1999, so the form may seem “primitive“, but I promise you, you’ll like it.

My poor baby girl got a boo-boo last night. Her nape got caught between Diego’s teeth, and damage happened. I had taken them with me when I went to my local Costco for some groceries. They were fine in the car, and I was pretty fast in returning. When we got home, I let them out into >

The signs of the autumn season are upon us. Not only have the leaves started turning colour, but squirrel vigilance has had to be increased. There are other signs too.

Belmont has a habit of squirming herself under the bed sheets so that only her head is hidden, and the rest of her is exposed. I don’t think she’s doing it because she’s cold. She will stay very still when I come into the room and ignore me when I talk to her.

I have some sad news to share with the community of dog lovers. I recently lose my 13-year old greyhound, Thomas, in April. He had been getting older, more arthritic, and a bit more senile, but he wasn’t ready to go yet. Unfortunately, another dog in the household didn’t want to have him around
