Chapter 3 egg is exactly what I missed. I literally might have ended up doing everything else correctly, but I didn't know that I could permanently lose access to the controller required to get it by doing the fight to get the secret armour.

Same honestly. Between remembering that I forgot to talk to the original starwalker and locking myself out of a single item right at the end of chapter 3, I played through the chapter enough to accidentally get T ranks on both boards, before realizing that such a thing existed
