The sea drowns my ears 🌊
The mist shrouds my eyes 🌫
The wind hurries among the pines 🌲

Tolkien. The North. Books. History. Shower thoughts.

I think I'm dumb.
There is a lot to choose from, but I haven't seen it here yet, so:

I was likely there with you into the wee hours that night!
I don't do them anymore but that was my last season running events (which is to say: all of the weddings) at the resort.
Cheers!

It's a place called Oceanstone Resort & Hydrothermal spa right on the Atlantic in a place called Indian Harbour, Nova Scotia - not far from Halifax.

Ha, I'd recognize that view anywhere!

I've worked at OS for 8 years, I hope your stay was nice.

That's probably my favourite tree on property, it lost its head a couple of years ago.

Thought I had the artist's name in the frame, oops.

It's Luke Anderson, or sabretooth1100.

I was slightly apprehensive to share because it's a fairly violent image. But what I got out of it, and what moved me pretty deeply as a #Tolkien fan is the defiance; the resigned and delayed hope.

Even on the darkest days we need to hold hope in our hearts, clenched like a fist.

Last of all Hurin stood alone. Then he cast side his shield, and wielded an axe two handed; […] and each time he slew Hurin cried: ‘Aure entuluva! Day shall come again!’”

With another depiction of the same, from one of the best.

A few bits of the relevant text:

“This I say to you, lord, with the eyes of death: though we part here for ever, and I shall not look on your white walls again, from you and from me a new star shall arise.”
