Well, against my better judgement, I’m watching the Witcher. I paused it after the “previously on” because I have thoughts already…

ADHD is so weird. I just spent 45 minutes helping my kiddo regulate for sleep (notoriously difficult for adhders) because her usual calm down and get sleepy methods were not working.

What did work, you ask? Gently gua sha-ing her face, hands and belly with her sleeping stone…

Parenting neurodivergent kids, especially for parents who are neurodivergent themselves, is far more difficult than any of us thought it would be. We need more resources, support, and community than our culture is designed to offer.

Tales of the Shire is the cozy game I’ve always wanted and single handedly getting me through this phase of the apocalypse.

Welfare in the US began in 1935 in response to the Depression.

White families were given more aid than Black families, if the Black family got aid at all.

Historically, there have been more white people on welfare than anyone.

And soon, many who pushed for others to have less won’t have any.

California is deploying the California National Guard to quickly assist families whose federal food benefits are halted because of Donald Trump's government shutdown.

We won't let the GOP's cruel inaction force millions of Californians to go hungry.

Can’t play any videos on YouTube. Not usually an issue but my kid is pestering me for something that is only there. Known issue?

“Someone” cancelled my family’s flight out of the country at the last second.

We got our boarding passes. We checked our bags. Went through security. Then at our gate our reservation ‘disappeared.’

I’m sitting in an anticapitalist marketing class I took two years ago and holy heck, I absolutely needed this review and reminder. The business I thought I was running then is not the one I’m running now. If you’re interested, it’s offered by Bear Hebert (@bearhebert on other sm) to find out info!

This week I’m preparing to go camping for the first time in a decade, first time with my kid, and first time since my back injury in 2018. Wish me luck. If anything goes wrong, I’m sleeping in the car.

I am picking up new hobbies a lot this spring, specifically useful and sustainable crafts that will add value to my life. Is this anxious bisexual apocalypse preparation nesting behavior?

Having ADHD is making one cake per year, and doing the absolute most. I can learn how to do anything from YouTube and the kid wanted a mermaid cake. Only took me 12 hours (with some breaks), a weeks worth of hyper fixation and some long and compelling TTRPG Actual plays to get it done.

THIS IS HUGE! Researchers at Stanford University have developed a dual-antibody treatment that remains effective against ALL SARS-CoV-2 variants by targeting a less-mutable part of the virus. This breakthrough could lead to longer-lasting therapies that OUTPACE viral evolution. 🧪🧵⬇️

Ah yes, I had forgotten that we were due for a biannual reminder that I am the reason we need health insurance. DVT scare. Trip to the ER. Blood test was negative. Came home instead of waiting for an ultrasound. Gonna keep an eye on it and go to urgent care if it’s not better in a few days.

I love when I learn that one of the rare female classics scholars of the 20th century was also a social justice badass who declined tenure because the college fired two LGBTQ colleagues. In 1960. #helenhbacon

Planning my oldest friend’s wedding ceremony today. She’s amazing but I don’t know him very well except that he’s Midwestern, a “holiday Catholic,” & loves sci fi. My urge to troll in the outline is so strong!! “ladies, theydies and gaydies” or “may the force be with you” “and also with you” “Amen.”

I had a student come up to me at the end of a session tonight who told me that, even though I was sick all of last week she felt confident turning in her English paper because I taught her the skills that she needed to edit it and make sure that it was up to standards. I feel so proud.

I’m in a very random headspace today: scheduled a piercing appointment for Valentine’s Day as a birthday present to myself; fielded some interest from potential private clients; and now I’m looking at pics of Maine Coons. Is it weird that I like small dogs but want a HUGE cat?!?

I spend too much time with my tutoring students trying to convince them to ask their overworked and underpaid teachers for help. Is it because this generation has already lost faith in our overtaxed public education system? And you want it to have fewer resources?!? Insane. #protectdeptofeducation

The most dangerous myth US Americans have subconsciously accepted is American ✨Exceptionalism.✨ While we celebrate our successes, Exceptionalism also means we’ve convinced ourselves that we’re incapable of making the same mistakes other people/state make. It’s not the same when WE do it.
