That look (Megatron's arm and fusion canon) was a stupid look and although it was a necessary mcguffin for DWJ's story I was so glad when it was done away with.

There are no covers. The fists have wrists so the car body panel you see in the vehicle mode render, is the top of the fist rotated around.
