The real multiplier effect happens when restoration is paired with permanent conservation.

This strategy "doubles the impact":
➡️ Restoration brings back clean water, critical habitat, and flood control.
➡️ Conservation guarantees those hard-won gains aren't erased by future development.

🍺For businesses like breweries, where water makes up ~90% of the product, quality isn't a luxury.

🌳The most powerful solution is often the simplest: letting nature work. Protecting and restoring natural systems is green infrastructure that filters water more cost-effectively than man-made plants.

The Deep River holds a special place in so many people's hearts and lives. Thank you for sharing! We love hearing stories about the places we're working to save.

There's plenty more work being done to build trails, create access points, and make it more accessible up and down the river!

This is how you heal a river: protect the land, serve the community, and take bold steps to restore nature.

So we're taking action with the Town of Ramseur. We're working to:
✅ Protect 27 acres of riverside land
✅ Establish a trailhead
✅ Extend an existing trail
✅ Support future public river access

And we're not stopping there. While we improve access, we're also studying the complete removal of the dam.

This is the tangible impact we strive for: find the problem, take bold action, and get it done. See the full restoration story here: uniqueplacestosave.org/hoosier-dam-...

So in 2018, we and our partners brought in the heavy equipment and delivered a concrete solution.

Today, the dam is GONE. 💥 The river flows freely, vital habitat is reconnected, and the entire watershed can begin to heal.

But the best is yet to come! We'll be working to establish forested riparian buffers, restore habitats, and create wetlands to reconnect streams to their floodplains.

This property will be a vital wildlife corridor and a huge boost for ongoing water quality initiatives in the Catawba River Basin.
