Who came up with this? I had Glandular Fever and couldn't move. Why as a society do we expect our children to do things we as adults would never do? This poster speaks to how we're all just knackered and struggling to survive so we have no choice but to send send them back sick. #NHS #childhood

We love home education and the freedom it gives us. I love seeing my child still be a child. I love watching them discover the world. We learn together, sometimes in traditional ways, but more often in the living of life ways. #AreYouListeningNow #HomeEducation #ChildrensWellbeingBill

One thing I like to do once New Years Day has passed is swap out the Christmas books for winter themed ones. These are a few of the ones we've got. We've also got a new winter themed read aloud called The Polar Bear Explorers Club. What about you? #homeeducation #EduSky #books #education

Today's home ed adventures have included independent reading, to be honest that's everyday, then we played Times Table Heroes which I love as not only does it teach the times tables but also involves storytelling and then we did Wonders of the World Monopoly. Lots of playing as well. #homeeducation

We're emerging from the Christmas cocoon. How is everyone? We had a very chilled Christmas, and as I'm about home ed mutterings, we've done lots of learning in the everyday. Especially when there is a new microscope! We've discovered a whole new world!

Snowflake School in December does have a Christmas/solstice vibe. This year we've started a new adventure book and it's really good. Funny, exciting, familiar but new. What are you reading?

Yesterday, we spent a happy hour listening to Frozen World on Yoto and cutting out our diorama that I got from etsy on sale. This was then turned into a penguin rescue centre, featuring Lovelace from Happy Feet. This is what I LOVE about home ed. You learn, you flow. Know what I mean? #homeeducation

My 2nd hand boom haul from World of Books. Yes, these books would be considered young for Little Miss, but she enjoys them, they add a more visual element to our learning, and they're just nice! #homeed #EduSky #books #homeeducation #homeschool

1st December means seasonal book swap. We have more autumn and winter books than spring and summer books. We have Christmas books, winter books, and then some that just feel like winter if you know what I mean. Do you do seasonal books? #homeed #homeschool #learningathome #education #christmas

Yeah, I totally forgot the actual picture of the book. See, that's my brain! The book is Wonderfully Wired Brain by Louise Gooding. #homeschool #homeeducation #neurodiversity

Snow day!!!! I'm at work, Dad isn't. Lots of snow play. Out since 6.30 am. As Little One loves books, they have a lovely one explaining all about snow and how it forms.

Happy Saturday! What are people up to today? We've been exploring one of the Math Quest books. Bit advanced for us at the moment, but it's a fun way to explore maths. What things have you found on your home ed journey?

Spook school isn't spook school without a pumpkin! With this simple pumpkin, we'll probably do some botany, science, and art. Got to love a pumpkin.

As a home educating parenting, I really try to read things by people that will help me better understand my child and my approach to home education. This year, I'm even doing notes! It takes me months to get through books due to life, but I keep going.

Do you do any reading on home ed?

Bluesky now has over 10 million users, and I was #6,238,505!

I'm surprised I was this number 😁😁

Those people making decisions about education need to listen to those who have lived it. This young woman spoke at BBC Women's Hour. This was her response to the question of how the SEND system affected her. Her response says it all.

Nope, sorry. I am hoping there is nuance here. But if the number of absences is growing and the number of home educated is growing there is a reason for this and it because the mainstream education system is broken.

Educational Freedom isn't on here yet, so here's a breakdown of how home education has a serious advantage over school in terms of time a child has learning.

Self-directed education doesn't mean I have nothing to do with my child's education. I'd say I'm more involved as I have to ID ways to support the interest. I love the Pawprint Family badges. Activity pack is free, giving me ideas to offer to support interests. #sde #homeEd #education #homeschool

Annie Ridout has got it and understands it. The return to school can be traumatic and impossible for some. As Eliza Fricker said, it's 'can't not won't'. Sept can and is a very difficult month for children and their caregivers. The system needs to change.
