Where to start, with a statement like this?

"Tim Ayres said the cuts were aimed at refocusing … CSIRO towards research priorities, such as critical minerals, iron & steel production in Australia."

From some rando down the bus stop, one would brush it off.

But this is from our Science Minister 🤯
CSIRO to cut up to 350 research jobs in major overhaul
After 440 positions were slashed last year, the CSIRO has announced more staff cuts across the country in a bid to remain financially viable.

Imagine being so hated that every time there’s a protest against you, it breaks the record for largest single-day protest of all time, which was held by the last protest against you.

Imagine sucking that much.

The Albanese Government wants to charge Australians for making a freedom of information request.

Makes dubious claims about tech being used to overwhelm the system.

In truth? Govt workload one of the lowest in the last 20 years.

When a commercial space is both big and expensive, the tenants tend to be deep-pocketed corporations. So instead of an independent perfumer, you get Sephora. Instead of an brand selling niche workwear, you get J. Crew. This leads to homogenization in fashion (and culture).

Sometimes I think about how much I am completely useless when it comes to some of the more complex aspects of my job in astronomy, but then, out of nowhere, I am reminded that Linda Yaccarino is the CEO of Twitter and that is truly a benchmark to measure useless against.

In that aspect, I'm good.

A diacritic is a mark put above, under or through a letter, changing its pronunciation and/or meaning. For example, in Spanish tengo doce años means “I am twelve years old” whereas tengo doce anos means “I have twelve anuses.” So forgetting the tilde in that sentence would be a dire/critical mistake

Iran’s bombing of Soroka Hospital is a war crime.

Israel’s bombing of Al-Ahli Arab Hospital, Al-Shifa Hospital, Turkish-Palestinian Hospital, Al-Nasr Children's Hospital, Al-Rantisi Hospital, Al-Quds Hospital, Al-Awda Hospital & Al-Yemen Al-Saeed Hospital in Gaza are war crimes.

It’s that simple.
