Old she/her. From Florida. In Virginia since 2009. I can remember when there was no internet. I’m not crying, you’re crying.

Welcome to Blue Sky, where at least once a day someone will get incoherently angry with you for agreeing with them.

Crowdfunding idea: I crowdfund the extra deposit I need to buy a house. But the only people who contribute to the crowdfunding are the CEOs of my defunct ex-publishers. The target will be the exact sum of money my defunct ex-publishers still owe me for the seven books I wrote for them.

Before man was, war waited for him.
My favourite grasshopper fact: Grasshoppers first appeared on the planet 250 million years ago.

Grass did not appear on the planet until 40 million years ago

Imagine it: 210 million years, hopping around on any random surface you can find, waiting for the grass that will make you truly yourself.

rfk is stupid and evil but in 2020 the CDC was literally telling us to wash our hands and sing happy birthday to stop an airborne disease from spreading. both things can be true

Instead of a song being stuck in my head, today what's stuck in my head is the "fuck ya life. bing-bong!" pigeon video.

The reason why “Kegseth” and “Whiskey Pete” as pejorative nicknames for Pete Hegseth aren’t resonating the way “Dubya” and “Ronnie Raygun” and “Tricky Dick” did is due to a number of factors, one being we no longer have a unified culture where everyone got that Letterman joke even if they don’t

His acting career was put in the cold ground after this, and he has the fucking nerve to go after Matthew Lillard. Guy needs to stick to ripping off King Hu and Sergio Corbucci

Sorry, these aren’t “standards and boundaries”, at least not normal ones. No one needs to “work out”. They do need to keep themselves in reasonable good health, which includes a certain amount of “exercise”, but “working out” implies something more than walking or jogging.
Straight and bisexual women already have to deal with so much every day and then *do* so much before dates but men are complaining about actual standards and boundaries like "he needs to book a restaurant", "he needs to work out in some capacity" and "he needs to have a bed frame".

I'm starting to wonder how much "the male loneliness epidemic" is just straight and bisexual women identifying low-effort, mean, and incompetent men and choosing not to date, marry, and tolerate them anymore

Everyone gets mad when I say we should bring tarring and feathering back. Well okay how about we ditch the feathers but keep the tar? Stick ‘em all together in a giant tarball and display it on the Mall next to the reflecting pond.

Protip: instead of being bitchy at me I’d much prefer it if you muted or blocked me. Also, this app allows you to mute threads. Also turn off your notifications instead of letting them make you frantic and then screaming at strangers.

Haha I overcooked the gd porkchops. I forgot that they don’t so much burn as dry out into something resembling wood. The potato wedges and carrots came out fine though. I baked everything in the oven, I should have fried the pork chops on the stove. Live and learn.

I want to create them in full. And live in them.
Fun fact, the set dresser for season 1 of The Magicians bought a bunch of art from me. It was mostly used in the Physical student’s cottage, so it appeared there throughout the entire run. (Also some magnets and postcard showed up on the side of Julia’s fridge.)
I don't know who needs to hear this but Sean Mcquillan worked on set decoration and props for season 5 of The Magicians and he posted a gallery of his own set photos six years ago on Reddit and all I want to do is devote 2026 to recreating them in miniature 😭

It's an actual game plan on the right. They use it for book bans as well. They start with something easy: no porn in libraries. That hooks in the low information folks. Then you slowly broaden the scope until you're yanking any YA that violates Christian nationalism.
one of many parallels between anti-vaxxers & those who oppose gender-affirming care: they start by pretending they have a very specific concern (MMR vaccine, puberty blockers, etc), but once given any sway or say on the matter, they quickly strive to eliminate all of it
Kennedy's zombie ACIP panel just voted to restrict hepatitis B vaccine for newborns. Experts say it will harm children for no reason. www.ms.now/news/rfk-cdc...

ACIP member Dr. Cody Meissner:

"'Do no harm' is a moral imperative. We are doing harm by changing this wording. And I vote no."
