We make the case for common-sense protections that improve people’s lives and enable UK businesses to thrive.
Reform UK has rediscovered its Thatcherite roots 💙

But what does this mean for their working class voters who want a strong state..? 💔

Could those votes be up for grabs..?

3 key pieces of regulation that are not getting enough cut through:

✅ Employment Rights Bill
✅ Renters' Rights Act
✅ Online Safety Act

These landmark policies will change the game for renters, workers and young people online.

Why is Labour not making more of them?

1/4 What unites Reform UK's coalition? And where do the cracks emerge..?

Part 2 of our analysis finds three main things unite Farage's coalition:

✅ Pessimism and disillusionment
✅ Cultural grievances
✅ Distrust of big (foreign) business

2/3 Our analysis suggests Reform can be split into two tribes:

🔹 'Blue' voters - often from petty bourgeoisie, favour a smaller state, anti income redistribution and benefits, 💙 Thatcher

♦️ 'Red' voters - more working class, want Gov to redistribute income, ⬆️ private sector regulation

1/3 Reform UK is often painted as a party of small-state, Brexit voters 🇬🇧 — but our research shows the reality is more complex

They often support:

✅ Nationalising utilities
✅ Regulating corporates
✅ Stronger rules for elites

Hardly textbook libertarianism.

Labour has stood firm on its pledge to boost worker protections - but they are barely talking it. Without a strong story behind them, their reforms are vulnerable.

We need a strong narrative on worker protections. Come to our event with @neonuk.bsky.social to help shape it.

🌹 Labour sounds more like the 🙆‍♂️ Tories each day. Their attack on NHS England last week got this response:

Sun: 'We couldn’t be happier'

Mail: 'The rhetoric will have gladdened the heart of any small-state Conservative'

Telegraph: 'it's most welcome'

Times: 'Streeting is doing the right thing'

Labour's culture war on regulation will not land with voters.

Poll after poll - including our new research on public attitudes to worker protections (shorturl.at/TK70c) - shows cross party support for strong protections.

Labour needs a new narrative that stops pitting regulators against growth.

2/2 And why is regulation being presented as a barrier?

With proper funding, regulators are able to ensure we have responsible growth that serves communities and local environments.

The solution is not to clip regulators wings, but to fund them properly to allow to do their job efficiently.

1/2 Unchecked UK's @carumbasra.bsky.social on @bbc5live.bsky.social this morning says the government deregulatory agenda comes with serious trade offs.

What standards are we willing to sacrifice in this gung ho pursuit of growth?
January 29, 2025 at 11:22 AM
We all want living standards to improve, but the governments growth-at-any-cost strategy is not the way to do this. Regulators ensure we have responsible growth that doesn't come at the cost of social and environmental protection.

🚨Happening this week🚨

Labour has a problem crafting a narrative that appeals to ordinary voters, says @johnharris1969.bsky.social at the @theguardian.com

So, what needs to change? We're joined by two former Labour strategists to discuss this key question. @mds49.bsky.social

🚨 Final Event Reminder 🚨

Poll after poll shows that voters want strong protections that safeguard communities, protect nature and ensure businesses play by the rules.

We need to make sure Labour isn't swayed by Trump's deregulatory circus - come and hear how 👇

Trump's deregulatory vision is quickly taking shape.

Will Labour now double down on being a trusted, high-standards economy? Or might they be tempted to secure a US trade deal built on deregulation..?

We need to make sure this a parliament of protections - come and hear how 👇
