Scientist, still hanging around the UC Davis Genome Center. I guess I currently have 11 protons, because people keep telling me i'm Sodium Fine ;)
After all this time , Finally have the evotip loading protocol working on the #Opentrons Flex, so far so good ! @evosep.bsky.social

Thinking about putting this sign outside my facilities door . 🤔

My curiosity got the best of me and I searched Grokipedia (Musks AI Wikipedia alternative ) for proteomics . My lord 🙄

Going through trying my hardest not to delete my old data. Found some ABRF RG data from 2009 and 2011. Doesn't look like we did very good. Wonder if we are any better now?

Thanks to everyone that attended our #proteomics Short course last week ! We generated over 150 GB of timsTOF HT data comparing different proteomics sample
Prep methods .

What the heck ? Found this in the lab today. What old instrument could this possibly be for?

I thought this was super interesting. re-analyzed a DIA data file I originally processed with encyclopedia in 2018 with Spectronat 20. Encyclopedia really held up! At least on the protein level. Peptides are more difficult to compare. Surprised me

Excellent work!! I just love the term Mini-Bulk so I had chatGPT help me whip something up

This is hilarious , how have I never noticed this before . I suppose if you don’t open the box/tubes = very inefficient

I'm really liking the new Spectronaut 20 search engine, seems to do a a really good job with unspecific digests. These are examples of chymotrypsin and elastase digests that I searched with no enzyme specificity. Seems to work well!

Here is one that we had made at the tech Foundry here at UC Davis. It's an adaptor for using the 96 channel Gilson plate master to load evotips @evosep.bsky.social #proteomics www.thingiverse.com/thing:7081394

I was worried about the cores finances, but now that we identified this protein in a sample, I think we will be okay right?

People use the manual Gipson plate master next to it these days . Maybe I’ll use that instead 🤔

It's that time of year again! Good news this year, we were able to lower prices for those at UC. Come get schooled and learn some cutting edge proteomics! It's fun I promise!! #proteomics #lcms #teammassspec #blueskyscience #DIA

Sometimes I like to find pictures in our PCA analysis. I see a guy with sunglasses 😎

Protip , don’t wrap your plates in parafilm and send them on dry ice . It shatters into plastic snow and makes a tremendous mess

I swear this lyophilizer speed vac combo is one of my favorite things in the lab , it’s so incredibly useful .

Maybe I shouldn’t have analyzed those Cordyceps samples after all 🤔

I love coming into campus every morning

I couldn't get this to work on their main page, had to go to their gemini page 🤣I laughed so hard my work mates probably think i'm nuts

Parts of this preprint are super cool like this figure. But the use of the Bravo and Astral makes me want to write a preprint entitled "How to consistently commute to work in 3.4 seconds using a McLaren Speedtail and a professional F1 driver"

This is hilarious , apparently the internet thinks I am smarter and more attractive in an outdoor bathtub compared to using my timsTOF HT in my lab. Plus I am way cuter than they are giving me credit for 🙄
March 13, 2025 at 11:51 PM
This is why I don't delete old Mass Spec data. Just 2 years of timsTOF HT data is 16x bigger than all the data I ever acquired on my LTQ-FT (8 plus years?) and the Deca XP+ data is kinda a rounding error
March 6, 2025 at 12:04 AM
I think my policy of never deleting anything is not going to be sustainable much longer ....
