The roadmap is being built, this much is clear.

And every new endorsement of the @fossiltreaty.bsky.social brings us closer.

At the #COP30 Leaders Summit plenary, President Lula called for “a road map for humanity to overcome, in a just and planned way, its dependence on fossil fuels.”

President Lula is right but pledges, speeches, statements and declarations are not a road map.

Cambodia becomes the 18th nation to join the @fossiltreaty.bsky.social at #COP30

Their participation signals the building momentum for the Fossil Fuel Treaty Initiative and charts a bold path into the second week of the COP and beyond, towards a fossil free future.

Yesterday @fossiltreaty.bsky.social President Kumi Naidoo rushed into his 5th speaking engagement of the day at #cop30 looking uncharacteristically upset. “Tzeporah,” he said “I lost it. I don’t even remember what I said. I am so sorry. I got emotional.”

I found the clip from his panel.

This new @amnesty.org study is damning.

A quarter of the world’s population lives within a 3 mile radius if a fossil fuel project. That’s 2b people.

We must end this era of greed and harm.

Honoured to be a Judge on International Tribunal for the Rights of Nature at #cop30

Amazing opening from indigenous leaders from around the world!

I’m so excited to be speaking at #TEDCountdownHouse during #COP30

My session highlights the experience of local activists halting
fossil fuel exploration in the Amazon, the impact on biodiversity, indigenous lands, and climate goals.

Ten years since the Paris Agreement was signed.

Let’s review where we are at, a thread 🧵

We breached the 1.5ºC global temperature for the first time in 2024, exceeding the threshold set in 2015 under the Paris Agreement.

Just 10 banks are responsible for nearly 75% of the $15 billion in Amazon oil financing from the last decade.

We know who they are. We know what this will cost us. We can apply pressure to make them stop #KeepItInTheGround

The majority of heat related deaths in European cities this summer were caused by climate change. These figures should terrify us.

This shows us that heat plans not enough – we need strong EU climate targets to cut the emissions causing this dangerous heat.

She inspired millions with her fierce compassion, grace and perseverance.

May her memory be a blessing and an inspiration.

What does it mean to say fossil fuels are affordable? Affordable to whom? How much is the cost of their deadly impact on our environment?

The sun won't send you a bill at the end of the month.

Nature👏 Bats 👏 Last 👏

No one is insulated from the climate crisis and the backtracking of NDCs and corporate climate commitments is not only irresponsible, it's illegal under international law.

I thought the #ClimateWeekNYC weather felt strangely warm. @zentouro.info told us that yesterday NYC was 7 degrees hotter than normal.

She also mentioned that US scientists can no longer contribute to IPCC and that a couple months ago she was kicked out of her office by DOGE 😡🤬😤 Dystopian much?

Not sure why BC Premier David Eby is speaking at #ClimateWeekNYC

Fracking has expanded dramatically under his admin and B.C.’s latest Climate Change Accountability Report says the province will miss its 2030 pollution reduction target by 50% & this doesn’t even account for future LNG terminals.

Bold leadership means standing up to bullies and it means standing up for science. Anyone using this political moment to decrease climate ambition wasn't planning to do much in the first place.

“Gov. Gavin Newsom signed a sweeping package of bills on Friday to boost oil drilling, rescue wildfire-threatened utilities and extend the state's landmark climate program as he attempts to rein in energy costs while meeting the state’s ambitious climate targets.”

This reads like an Onion article…

Marching today opened a release valve for me. Tired feet but feel better than I have in a long time. Action is truly the antidote to despair.

Big thanks to all the organizers and the many thousands who came out in NYC and around the world. #DrawTheLine

Today we draw a line: against inequalities, tyranny, genocide, destruction, and chaos.

For rights, jobs, justice, democracy, & a fulfilling life on a safe planet

For COP30 to be a turning point, we must mobilize now!

From digging coal to burning gas, every stage of fossil fuels makes us ill

Extraction pollutes. Processing poisons. Transport spills. Burning kills. Waste lingers.

That’s the real fossil fuel “lifecycle”
