I'll keep an eye out for some of the Germans women's league. I've been blown away by the quality in the Spanish comp.

Once the girls start filling stadiums and getting the ratings the money will flow and it will snowball hopefully into greater opportunities for female athletes to make a living.

Apologies for assuming you were Australian.

I think we are seeing the early advantage of the Matildas fade as the weekend game grows internationally. Nations that have football in their DNA are starting to overtake.

Australian rules football also takes a lot of talent from traditional football.

You might be watching in a different region to me. I've watched senior women's NPL in Qld, NSW and Victoria. It's not even close.

In juniors after 15 they aren't comparable.

Every generation of girls is getting better though. I'm seeing stronger technique in u13s than u20s. Exciting times ahead.

I watch a lot of women's football, a lot, and there is still very much a large gap in quality. Whether that justifies the difference in crowds I don't know. Doesn't seem to impact the Matildas

The positive is the crowds in the super league are getting quite exciting in terms of size and atmosphere.

It's adorable. But that's how they start...

Seth Campbell playing at CHF. Just clear the 50 and let him do his work.

The good news is anything better than a hiding is more than expected.

Two things I don't hear discussed is, if Europe isn't buying billions of dollars of weapons then how does that impact the weapons industry in the US? Also what if the US goes further than withdrawing support and instead offers that service to Russia?

I love the Charlie Cameron one. What I'd prefer is crowds singing chants like overseas football or Japanese baseball. There's something primal and therapeutic having a good crowd singalong.

Crazy to overpay him. Not a difference making ruck.

Sri Lanka seemed to be relying on the heat to cause a silly shot or footwork mistake. I'm not sure there's been less creative or passive field setups.

Did they really tame it? They don't determine interest rates or the eventual supply chain relief. Feels like most of the western existing leaders tamed it through the virtue of time and central banks raising rates.
February 5, 2025 at 7:26 PM
Yeah, really feels like an awful alignment of variables. Of course the climate change component of this story is how often are these types of conditions now likely to occur, where can they occur, and what can be done to mitigate the new risks regions may find themselves in.

Tricky times ahead.

The wind speed LA experienced, filled with embers, not sure many places can deal with that. Changes the maths on how far the danger can spread from a wildfire when it's blowing at 100mph.

He might still be one of our top scorers today with how fragile our betting line up is.
January 5, 2025 at 1:03 AM
For salary cap it works well because a tricky forward line at the start of the season makes life interesting for all.

For keeper I'll continue to lament any injustice that doesn't go my way, which also makes it interesting but I can't admit that out loud.

Looking forward to the impending opening.

The injustice of JHF not having forward designation in 2024 has been corrected. Happy with that.

I think any mid that scores over 20 goals should get a little fwd love. Ollie Dempsey stiff.

Any idea when SC opens this year Al?

Ethically we should but the US election showed a post truth/reason reality. We've got daily nuke threats from Russia. Proud anti intellectualism. Isolationist policies and populist leaders are in vogue. Let's see how it plays out living in denial.

(I did not know those numbers, 16th?! 😬)

I don't see the mechanism for climate policies to succeed enough on the global stage. Make sure your aircon works, you live in an area of moderate weather events and hope for the best. Australia doesn't need to be a leader in this space anymore, leave that to larger nations with more riding on it.
November 28, 2024 at 10:59 PM
“West Australians strongly support the protection of nature and real action on climate.”

I wonder how true that statement is. The US election I think showed that climate is simply not an issue that resonates meaningfully enough. I'm ready to wave the white flag on climate action.

Thanks so much for being here. Looking forward to the draft.

Exactly. I know Bluesky is going through an Elon phase right now, but Tesla has some amazing employees and exciting things going on. From concept to delivery, they can make interesting, real cars. The next couple of years feel exciting.

There you go. I'm not shocked. The CyberTruck, whether you like it it not, was an ambitious design. I can see it having early issues. The next version, and variations on it, will be interesting. Looking forward to seeing what they make next.
November 14, 2024 at 12:16 AM
Does anyone know the frequency of recalls for the first version of a vehicle normally? Sixth sounds like a lot, but also this vehicle is a completely new thing so I wouldn't be shocked that it got recalled often within the first iteration of it.

The risk of the early adopter.

That is a great nickname and what a bowling performance.

It's stressful having a flakey batting line up and there isn't an easy fix coming from the lower levels.

There is a possibility that he's just very tired and the victory was the legacy he desired along with the removal of prosecution fear. He may let others do the work and claim glory as it happens. It would be against character, but he could loosen the reigns and just golf lots.
