Made steps for myself to be more avoidant of political outrage. I know I've posted about it before, but not anymore. I don't have the spoons. I want something positive, I want joy, I want science, paleontology and fucking dinosaurs. Don't like something? Talk about what you loved about it instead!
New season of Jurassic World: Chaos Theory drops today - gonna binge it!

I want to see some really nice posable/articulated Terror Bird figures at some point. There is some static models already, but yeah.

Throwing this out there: The reason the right is spreading memes about people rioting against them is that they fear that end. They have decided to weaponize their fear of people uniting against them and turned it into a shackle for us so they can make more attempts to dissuade aggressive action.

Megatron

The more I learn and understand how and why Megatron becomes evil in Transformers with the Decepticons, the more relatable he becomes. Started off fight for social equity and equality to being conscripted into death duels for the elite to stop him from speaking out. Sounds & feels familiar.

The huge Deinocheirus in its habitat. Illustration I did for the Fukui Prefectural Dinosaur Museum in Japan

In this illustration you can see a scene set in Late Cretaceous Asia where an adult Deinocheirus is scaring away a pair of young Tarbosaurus

Injuries are actually fairly common to find in fossil specimens, even in the seaway that used to cover Kansas!

This #FossilFriday pic is the end of the tail of a Clidastes mosasaur. The gnarly mass in the middle is around 6 vertebrae that fused together due to trauma, likely an infected bite.🧪

For #FossilFriday some iguanodontian dorsal vertebrae with ossified tendons which would have formed a crisscross pattern. First appeared Late Jurassic associated with increased mass and quadrupedality. From #IsleofWight in the collections of @nhm-london.bsky.social.

The fierce carnivore Inostrancevia is one of the species of synapsids that went extinct in the Great Dying, known as the Permian-Triassic Extinction event. #FossilFriday ⚒️🧪

This is how I feel daily due to my trauma responses. It is why I can not keep watching it all happen passively. It is only making it worse. I am tired of feeling existentially fucked by this shit.
You are not bad or wrong for wanting to burn the whole f*cking world down, especially when your "fight" trauma response is triggered.

Lots of people probably have no idea how heroically restrained you've actually been this whole time. Respect.

The big tableau of early Permian synapsids in the next gallery unified a bunch of mounted skeletons that had previously been in separate cases. A nearby lab area covered the concept of extinction ("the fate of all species") in general terms.

Alien Earth finale was interesting. I'm eager to see what season 2 looks like ahead. Also, now I want a Xenomorph I can be mutual besties with.

For #TrilobiteTuesday, here’s the aptly named Kayserops megaspina, a Devonian trilobite. First printed in castable resin, then cast in sterling silver and oxidized to yield blue highlights. Sculpted from scratch, no scans. #paleoart #sciart

Rapture? Really? The last one was called off due to...*checks notes* rain? I wonder how many times the blind sheep are going to use this excuse for the umpteenth time.

Lord Dampnut, amazing. Going to use this. I felt this was important enough to share and delightful enough to invoke laughter in a mocking sense.

This is what it feels like seeing the stream of social media posts "raising awareness" about things as well. I definitely come on here to have some level of escapism. My depression makes me desire a black hole at times to engulf the Earth. So, I think escapism is essential for mental health reasons.
