Funny, I looked up Kill Bill because I found out Chigusa was Gogo.

But the intimacy is the point. Isn't it?

How I wish.

But that's in the past now. I'm back to writing how I want to.

Yeah.

Worst part of it all was, because of the specific nature of that particular writing gig, she was in a position to force me to write her way.

There's no such fhing as a right method, but I've met people who think otherwise. There was an editor I used to work with who flat-out told me nothing good was ever written without an outline.

I hated her. I hate her still.

It's outside of what the main characters are concerned with. One of them doesn't really buy into the genetic mythology of it all, but knows she lacks the political capital to change anything. The other is just happy to work for someone who doesn't treat her as "stowaway scum."

I figured that's where things would go there when Enron Muskrat bought the place. Decided to get while the getting was good.

The genetic lineages of passengers are unmodified in most cases, and so they rarely hold any kind of power the way officer and crew castes would.

And those descended from stowaways are treated with suspicion and disdain by folks who buy into the genetic caste system.

The original officers and crew were modified to be better suited for specific roles. So if someone was born to a family descended from, say, an engineer, they're default assumed to be engineering caste. If there's more than one genetic lineage in play, they're moved around based on proficiency.
