There is something very freeing about having a narrator who both rambles and may or may not know everything.

Once upon a time, there was a little boy named Nikitakatuku. He was not named Nikitakatuku at the time, but he’d long since chosen to discard the memory of what he’d been named when he was still a little boy, young and ignorant of the world, still flesh and blood rather than cloth, cog, and composites. He was a curious boy back then, with big, bright, brown eyes that took in so much of the wonders. Wonders as mundane to others as the herd of goats his family raised for their cheese business, or the way flowers poked out from under melting snow and seemingly-dead dirt. Wonders as delightful as those curious moments when the sun appeared in the night sky to bludgeon the moon with a stick made of stars welded together, resulting in a looming eclipse. The simple wonders of The Realm, one could argue.

Playing PBBG reminds me of my childhood, spending money on Alien vs Predator or Shadow Over Mystara in the arcades. As much as I love narratively-involved, takes-days-to-complete RPGs, sometimes I just want something simple, you know?
