This is a devastating loss to the art form of cinema. He made such an impact, and it is up to us to become more dreamy and surreal, with intention. My heart goes out to his family, his friends, and his fans.

His output was abstract, but he was not when it came to expressing himself regarding the creative experience. I highly recommend checking out his book titled “Catching the Big Fish,” which goes deeper into that.

Not just because of his filmography, not just because of his occasional scene stealing performances (check out The Fabelmans if you haven’t seen it yet), but what I adored most about him was his point of view when it came to art and creativity.

I answered, “yes, grandpa. I do.”

He responded, “good man.” He then gave me a hug.

He would be 100 years old today. I would hate to see how he would have reacted to the events of last week if he were still alive today. Because I know it would break his heart.
