Environmentalist groups such as PUSH Buffalo have frequently protested National Fuel and DeCarolis's ruthless tactics, yet there's no mention of this in the rosy news story and no statement from anyone other than BNP and DeCarolis. This is lazy, harmful journalism.

BNP and The Buffalo News exist in a different universe. National Fuel has made record billion dollar profits yet keeps asking the Public Service Commission for massive rate hikes. "Affordability" is an industry codeword for "protecting fossil fuels," which is the only thing DeCarolis did.

I think "plant links" and "plant patties" are more viable alternatives, but the meaning of "veggie burger" is well entrenched, with "veggie sausage" on its way, and I see no reason to change that.
